By the end of the lesson ss will have practised the language of description and answering open questions about themselves.
To practise listening for gist and specific information.
Procedure (28-45 minutes)
Focus ss' attention on pictures, try to elicit as many words from them as possible. " fields" , "hills", "clouds", "rainbow"
Test their background knowledge with a matching task. Explain that ss will match words that go together. Prepare students to listen to the song and complete the gaps.
Ask ss to listen and complete. Listen and demo. Clarify the new lexis with the help of visuals and focus on form and pronunciation. To provide a written record of the target language. CCQs, elicit form and stress and dril. Ss copy the record.
Ask students to make a list of the things that theu consider wonderful in the world. Provide an example: when I see stars in the sky. I think to myself: what a wonderful world! when I go home and see my family. I think to myself : what a wonderful world.
