Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1/ show students different books and film covers of ghost stories to elicit vocab related to ghosts. "when you see this picture what is the first thing that comes to your mind" 2/ after showing them the pictures ask them to write as many words they can think of related to ghost or scary stories. 3/ elicit: haunted house / isolated house / thunder / ghosts / cemetery / bats and as much vocab related to ghost stories to help students to tell their stories in the productive task 4/ ask students to write as many words they can think of related to ghost stories "Now come to the board o please and write as many words you can think of related to ghost stories" So are you going to write one words?

Exposure and Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model and highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1/ provide students with a jumbled story which they have to read quickly and reorder 2/ student talk about the gist of the story 3/under phrases that describe time 4/ circle adverbs used in telling stories 3 and 4 will help students in telling their stories in the productive task

Productive Tasks (20-25 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Productive task 1 1/ students are divided in to groups of threes and are given jumbled pictures of a ghost story which they have to reorder (the first picture is given to students) 2/ check if the pictures are in the correct order (project the correct order on IWB instruction: Use these pictures to think about your own ghost story. when planning think about the three things (use 3 fingers) 1-how your story is going to begin and end 2- think about your characters -- you can give them names 3- use the time phrases and adverbs such as the ones in the story you have. 4/ when students recount their stories do not forget to include scary ghost music in the background and turn off the lights to make storytelling interesting Productive task 2 If there is time left: 1/ mingling activity: students will move asking questions about ghosts
