Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask Ss some warm - up questions Do you often go out for the day? Where do you usually go? Where is the best place to go for a day out in your area? With your partner make a list of the five more important things go for a day out. Ex. good weather, nice restaurant Feedback

Pre-Reading (5-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and to lead them read for the gist

Sts' Book. pg 60. Reading, ex.1 Students will read the article and match the headings 1-4 to the excursions A - D. Peer Check Feedback Asnwers: 1.B 2.A 3.C 4. D.

While-Reading#1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students specific information reading tasks

While-Reading #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

Ss' Book, pg 61, ex.3 Design the chairs facing each other/ or in their tables in a group of 2 or 3. There are 6 statements in the exercise. Cut the statements, put them in a box, let the students draw a statement. Ss will decide which excursion A - D these people should choose to go on. Explain their reasons. Possible answers feedback (After Ss discussion, write the possible answers on the board and check them with the ss) - a young couple - C - romantic and relaxing - a businessman and a customer- C - they would be impressed by the luxurious way of seeing the breathtaking coast of island - a group of retired holiday makers - B - they may be interested in seeing ancient Irish Sites - two students from Dublin - D would appreciate getting up late and the nightlife, going to the pubs to listen to music - a family with two teenagers - A - it is an action packed holiday, which teenagers with lots of energy would like - a delegation of European politicians on a cultural visit - C - there are lots of interesting cultural and historical sites of Ireland, which the politicians would hopefully enjoy

Post-Reading/Listening (10-14 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Give the ss a template of a broshure. Instruction: Suppose that these people are coming to your city. What do you think they would like to see and do in your area? Ss are going to write some statements about their cities to attract those people to come to their city. Whole Class Feedback Alternative: One group reads their statements in a mixed order, the other group can guess which statement is for which profile.
