Description

I will start the lesson reminding SS the topic of our previous lesson (gender gap in the brain). I will point out that our brain, like our body, ages, and we have to do our best to keep it young and fit. I will ask students what they do to keep their brain healthy and they will discuss first in pairs and then as a whole class. Students will then read a text containing pieces of advice to keep our brain healthy and discuss on whether they agree and follow these pieces of advice. The text contains the target language (causative passive verbs have and get). I will present and clarify meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language using a guided discovery approach. Students will highlight the target language and will be guided by a series of question that elicit meaning and form. Meaning and form will be checked with CCQs and pronunciation will be practiced by drilling. SS will then practice the target language with 2-3 controlled and semi-controlled practice exercises. Students will then listen to a conversation containing the target language in which someone requests a service. After providing the transcript of the conversation and business card, I will ask students to create a conversation where someone requests a service, using the previous conversation as a model.
