In this lesson, students learn 10 different vegetables. By showing posters, the students will see the vegetables and their names. Through repetitive listening and repeating, students will learn the names and the pronunciations of the new words.


Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of 10 words about vegetables in the context of Vegetables

  • To provide review and practice of the verbs: love and hate in the context of Vegetables


Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To talk about what kind of vegetables students like and dislike.

Exposure (1-2 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through conversation between the teacher and the students.

Talking about vegetables and their benefits.

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Posters will be shown to the students. The students will get a glimpse about the new words.

Clarification (4-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Students will be shown posters about vegetables. They are supposed to memorize them. On the Computer, the students will listen to the correct pronunciation forms. The are supposed to repeat the correct form. The verbs love and hate will be explained together with vocabularies. (In accordance with the vocabularies)

Controlled Practice (1-2 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The Students will be given a handout and they will be supposed to memorize the words. Only few moments will be given in this stage. Following this, they will have to turn around their handouts and try to be ready for the next activity. Students have to write 3 sentences with the verb hate and 3 sentences with the verb love. The sentences have to be in accordance with the new vocabularies.

Semi-Controlled Practice (2-3 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The students are supposed to match the words with the according pictures. This will be done on the whiteboard. In the last stage students are supposed to pick a fruit from a bag. They will have name the fruit which they have picked.

Homework (1-2 minutes) • To make them practice the new words at home.
