Description

In this lesson students read text about Zara store, find words which are connected with clothes in the text, do some speaking and listening exercises about clothes. This is followed by learning about present perfect or past simple and interviewing their partner about Zara store. Finally they learn about present perfect (experience) +ever, never, through speaking and grammar exercise.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask questions: What's the most popular place to buy clothes in your town? Do you buy your clothes there? If not, where? Give SS ready copy of questions about clothes and make them to ask each other.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Read the text about "Zara" store. Find and underline any words that are connected with clothes.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Match the words and pictures. Match the phrases and pictures.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Listen and complete the chart.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Interview your partnee about Zara and write his/her answers in the chart. Look at questions 1 and 2 above. What tense are they? Which question refers to a spevific time in the past? Which questions is about some time in your life? Expain present perfect + ever and never Expain where and when to use present perfect and past simple. Do exercises.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Exercise - Irregular verbs. Write the simple past and the past participle. Exercise - Practicing Irregular verbs. Ask questions beginning with "Have you ever ...?" and give answers.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Speaking Part: a) Complete the questions with the past participle of the verb. b) Interview a partner with the questions. If he / she answer " Yes, I have", make follow-up questions in the past simple. So, if the answer positive, like yes, then you should ask another question related to your partners answer, but now using only the past simple. Ok? Is that clear? So, S1 what should we do now?
