In this lesson, SS will have listening exercises about making travel arrangements. They will listening for gist, for spesific infprmation and for details.

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Converstaion in the context of Booking a flight

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask SS where they have been to lastly for holiday. Ask them details about time and people they were with. Ask SS to help you about your travel plan to Iceland in October. SS will work in pairs and they give you some suggestions about your travel plan. Give them the prompts below. time money routes special offers unexpected problems advice discounts

Pre- Listening (1-2 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask SS which one is a better option for you: Making travel arrangements online or booking through a travel agent's

Pre- Listening (2-3 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask SS discuss which one is better in the situations below: making travel arrangements online or booking through a travel agent's? -an activity holiday for a large group of friends -a package holiday for a family -a long-distance flight to visit family -a train to another town

While-/Listening #1 (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Ask SS to listen to the first part of a dialogue and match it to one of the situations in the previous exercise.

While-/Listening #2 (4-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Ask SS to listen the whole track now and answer the questions below. Ask them to read the questions first and find what they need while listening. Ask them to take notes. -What kind of travel is being organised? -Who is going? -Where is s/he going? When is s/he going? Ask them to check their answers with their pairs.

While-Reading/Listening #3 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ask SS to listen the track again and complete the form. Remind them to check the info they need to catch while listening. Ask them check their answers with their friends. Elicit the answers.

While-/Listening #4 (6-9 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ask SS to work in pairs and add this question. "Are the sentences below true (T) or false (F). Correct the false statements." Ask them to listen the track again and answer the ones they could not do. Elicit the answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ask SS to make a telephone converstaion with their partner. Give them the cards with prompts. Give them 3 minutes to get prepared. When the first part finishes, tell them they change the roles and give new cards. Give feedbacks.
