Description

This is a reading lesson . It is a receptive one in which Sts read about three different activities people practice them in their free time: going for pizza, going dancing and going for Karaoke. Ss are going to end the lesson by a speaking activity about their popular local activities, favourite food and the effect of international influence on their country.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I am going to start the lesson with a simple conversation with the Ss in order to elicit the meaning of socializing. Then ask Ss to do Ex 1. They are going to tell which activity they do and which one they don't . They are asked to give rationales for this. ICQs must be clear. Check one of the students answers.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Distribute the hand out for this task. Ask Ss to work in pairs. They are going to work out a matching exercise for the meanings of : banned, ingredient, applaud, unwind, tone-deaf, a craze Check on the board.

While-Reading Specific Questions (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

Ex 2 ( a)I will help Ss do this exercise easily give them a handout with simple instructions. Ask them to read the first paragraph and find three activities mentioned in Ex1 . Then they associate them with countries. I must make sure that they know the meaning of associate. Give feedback Ex2 (b) I will give Ss a handout that contain a table with the three activities. They will associate the correct phrases with them. Check on the board

While-Reading Detailed Questions (12-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

- I remind Ss with the three main activities, they are going to read about them. Then I will ask them to start with reading the questions. Next, they will read the rest of the article and after that they complete the sentences. I will ask pairs to exchange their sheets to check answers. I will give a clear orally feedback.

Post-Reading/Listening (12-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

This stage is the productive one of the lesson as the students are going to discuss certain communicative questions. It needs enough time to apply perfectly, so I will give them sheets to write their responds. one sheet for each group Then they discuss the questions together Give a model answers with one group as feedback
