Description

In this lesson studets will talk about history events and the effects of them and by using this context students will identify the 3rd person conditional. They will practice, produce and share their experiences.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of the 3rd person conditional by identifying form in the context of Leaps.
  • To provide practice for the 3rd conditional by making sentences of their experiences and sharing woth other SS.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy for the 3rd conditional by talking to their pairs about what happened last year and change their life.

Procedure

Lead in (8-10 minutes) • To set the context of the lesson and rise an interest on the theme.

SS discuss the most important event in their countries' history in pairs. T tries to elicit several questions from students. T asks SS to look at pictures about leaps in the history. In pairs SS will discuss which what are these events and why are they important. Task feedback A civil right march in the US Invention of aeroplane. The industrial revolution discovery of DNA .The invention of wheel. What is the most important event in Turkey? Discuss in pairs. Task feedback. Please guess the important events in the pictures in pairs share your idea. These are leaps in history. What is leap? CCQs: Are they important? Does it change anything?

Lead in 2 (8-10 minutes) • to get student to complete the sentences about the context.

T will give each student a worksheet. SS will each complete sentences and they will share in pairs see if they have similarities or differences. SS will have taks feedback with the T. Please complete the sentences by yourself and share with your pair.

Gist reading (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the language focus with the contex of leaps

SS will be grouped in the two categories A and B, A will read the text "learning to eat meat." And B will read the text "Teaching people to read." They will each read there part and answer to these questions; What? Where? When? and Why is it important? SS check in pairs and WC check. A's you read learning to eat. B's read teaching people to read. and please answer the questions; What? Where? When? and Why is it important? ICQ: Do you need to understand every single word?

Pre-Language Focus (5-8 minutes) • To get students to identify 3rd conditinal.

T tells students to look at the sentences in 4A, asks them if its imaginary situation in the past or present. Please look at the sentences and discuss with your pair is it a situation in the past or present? CCQs: Did he write Doctrinale in the past or in the present? Past Is the education different today? Language Focus (8-10 minutes) • For students to try to idetify the form on their on

T gives an outline of the 3rd conditional but it has missing parts. SS tries to fill in the blanks by looking at the two sentences they have just talked about. After SS have finished Pair check WC check Please look at the sentences and try to find the correct form by yourself. 2ndpart: T tells SS to look at the two sentences in 4C. One of the students read the sentences. In pairs they try to understand the difference from the previous ones. Please look at the sentences below and discuss the differences with the other two examples. Feedback.

Practice of the Language focus (5-8 minutes) • To get students to practise the form they have identified

T tells SS to look at 5A and complete the sentences using th verb there and using the outline they have filled. Please fill in the blanks by using the verb and the rules you have written before. Pair check. WC check.

Production of the Language focus (8-10 minutes) • To get students to use the form they have practised during the lesson

SS make 3 sentences about what happened to them last year and how their life would be different if it hadnt happen to them. Please write 3 sentences about something that happened to you last year. and how different your life would be. For example; I got a job(this happened last year) If I hadnt got a job, I would be bored at home. After SS finish their sentences, they will share with their pairs. Task feedback.
