Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency practice on the topic 'going out' and on the usage of present/past simple.

Subsidiary Aims

  • to practice functional language in the same context

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in guess the topic (5-7 minutes) • To stimulate their minds and make them ready for the following tasks

- I'll show them a set of pictures and let them guess what we are talking about today. - After setting the topic, I'll have them do a matching exercise for today's vocabulary (PTV stage) - Check the answers.

Preparation (3-5 minutes) • To give students time to prepare ideas on the topic.

-I'll write one the board in three points: place, food/drink and activity. - I'll ask students to discuss these three items in pairs in light of their personal experience when they have a day out. I'll model for clarification. - I'll take a model of their answers as a feedback.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks.

-We'll cover section 5 in lesson 5C ( the speaking and pronunciation task) - I'll ask students to read the prompts and form questions, then answer these questions in a short form. -In the feedback stage: I'll elicit the question forms from them and then they will listen to the question forms and notice the intonation and stress.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

- I'll put students in pairs and ask them to ask each other these previous questions. - students will keep changing pairs. I'll be monitoring during this task. -I'll take a model of their answers as a feedback. - An extra task: if we have time left, I'll distribut a worksheet on ' boys' night out'. In pairs they're going to form sentences from the pictures they have. -Open feedback.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

After the last task, we'll have an open feedback and correction for language errors.
