Description

In this lesson, students are going to learn about collocation with take. The lesson is going to start with the lead in showing my students some pictures to differentiate between make and do.

Main Aims

  • To use the right collocations with the verb take

Subsidiary Aims

  • To learn how to pronounce words with weak forms.
  • To write sentences using the verb take

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I am going to show some pictures on the board to clarify the difference between do and make then i am going to elicit some sentences about the actions shown in the pictures.

Pre-teach vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • To make sure that students know the meaning , form and pronunciation of the word take and to help them differentiate between the meaning of the verb and the meaning of the phrasal verb.

I am going to show my students a picture of the word take, then I am going to elicit the meaning I am going to present the pronunciation and the form of the verb and for the phrasal verb.

Test #1 (5-8 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I am going to give clear instructions to my students to work in pairs They are going to be handed a paper with A and B columns, they are going to find if the phrases in A and B have the same meaning.

Teach (6-8 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

I am going to clarify the difficulties that faced my students during the previous activity. I am going to ask CCQs to help my Students find the answers.

Test #2 (4-6 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

My Students are going to add phrases from Ex B in a diagram They are going to work in pairs to find the answers. I am going to monitor them.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students are going to work in different pairs They are going to be divided into A and B Everyone is going to read his questions and understand them then he will take turn asking and answering questions with partner A If he has enough time, he should take notes.
