Description

In this lesson, the Ss will improve receptive skill by reading a text about MetroNaps and they will conduct a dialog on daily routines as a post reading task.The Ss will study some collocations (have,get &go).Also, they will practice the pronounciation of some wovels.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed, gist and scan reading practice using a text about MetroNaps in the context of daily routines

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of daily routines

Procedure

Stage 1 -Lead In (5-7 minutes) • to introduce the theme of the lesson(daily routines)

-Greet the Ss a) Write some times on the board and ask them "what do you do at 8/9/12 etc o'clock?" -Elicit answers from the the Ss and put them into morning/afternoon/evening/night category. -Point out the difference between "in" an and "at". b) -Ask them to write 2 facts and 1 lie about their daily life. -ICQ -When they've done, arrange the peers Inst. -Work in peers -read your sentences STUDENT A -Guess find the lie STUDENT B -FB

Stage 2 -Preteaching vocabulary (4-5 minutes) • to set the context of the lesson and to clarify meanings,forms and pronounciation of TL

-Show the picture and ask some questions about it -elicit ideas - 'nap' vs 'sleep' drill,meanind explanation and CCQs -do the same thing for 'stressed' vs 'relaxed' -do the same things for 'get home' vs 'go home' -Elicit answers with gestures and mimics

Stage 3- reading for gist (4-5 minutes) • to develop subskill of skimming for reading

-Go back the picture -Tell them he is Will and he is in MetroNaps capsule( EnergyPod) -Write the followings on the W/B a)go to sleep b)have a shower c)wantch videos -Ask the Ss 'what can people on in MetroNaps Capsules?' 'find the answer and circle' -ICQs -FB

Stage 4 -Reading for details (12-14 minutes) • to develop reading skills by scanning

-a) -Explain that they will answer 8 comprehension questions -after instruction give HOs for the Qs -give 7 minutes to answer with short information -write the numbers 1-8 on W/b -Let them check the answer (PW) -Find the different ones and highlight them -Give the answers for highlighted ones -Ask a few of the Ss come to W/B and write the rest of the asnwers b) -Give the HOs of order -Ask them to put them in order (Match the numbers with letters) -PC -Elicit the answers and write on W/B

Stage 5- post listening a)vocabulary b)speaking (13-14 minutes) • To improve their vocabulary for collocations and to develop productive skill by speaking

A)VOCABULARY -Drill get/have/go and write them on the W/B -Ask the Ss find words next to them from the text eg.have a fight (PW) - Give 2 minutes -ICQs -Invite them to the W/B to write the word -WC FB B)SPEAKING -Ask them to make questions and not show their papers -HOs for student A and B -Arrange the pairs and ask them to ask their guestions and answer the question for themselves too -Say that they should remember the partners' answers. -Monitor them and take notes -Ask them to explain the partners' daily lives -WC FB
