Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a semi Monitored and Freer in the context of Firends Life


Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask these questions from the students; 1. Did you watch BBC yesterday? 2. Did you hear about the two American guys having a huge problem?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

two stick men will be drawn on the board with the names of Patric and Amy. The students will know as these guys are my friends from USA. te story will be presented as follows. Amy and Patric were very much in love I remember them having great timetogether in hıgh school we studied in. they were highschool sweethearts. they planned on going to another country as they didnt seem to like States enough to live in. So, they planned to go to a small city abroad. they planned on Brazil and they went to Sao Paulo after their marriage. They stayed there for a while but they noticed they like to buy a house there they didnt have enough money so Patric got a loan. I will write Loan on the left up side of the board. The story contınous they were both working ın sao paolo but they didnt like to get a house inside sao paolo, as you know sao paolo is a big city with lots of rivers. they found an expencive house out of sao paolo in a jungle just onthe other side of a river in sao paolo. the house was so big and so expensıve. they tried working to pay back the loan but they only had one car. and they were working at different hours so they couldnt do that either. so Amy stayed at home and Partic went for his job. the money was not enough. So, he started working over time. and he couldnt go home for some nights. Amy felt very sad and homesick and she was always alone at home. one day he asks Patric to come home early so that they could have a nıce dinner together. patric promised to come as early as he could. but later that night Amy waited for partic 4 became 6 - 6 became 10 and amy called patric as she had prepared everything and cleaned the house perfectly. she was very sad and this action by her husband made her feel even more depressed as he said he wont be able to come that night. she felt so sad and she wanted to kill herself she went to the river to jump in the water and kill herself that suddenly their friend jhon called her and toled her that he is very sad he needs to speak with somebody and amy also tells him about the sıtuatıon and they agreed to meet up at jhons house. amy had enough to buy some drınks and go to jhons. jhon agreed to take her back after they finnished taling they spoke and drank untıl one thing led to another. and in the middle of the night amy found herself naked in the bed sleepıng besides jhon. she got really sad and angry wıth herself she went out without awakening jhon. I will write the word awaken on the left up sıde of the board. she didnt have any money on her but she managed to go to brıdge to theır house in the jungle. but as it was very late she was worried to take the brıdge so she went to a boat man who lıved just down the bridge in a small house she asked the boatman to take her to the othersıde of the river. but as she didnt have anymoney and the boatman promissed his family not to take anyone without getting money before hand. So, he rejects to take her to the otherside. and amy takes the bridge. on the other hand a mad person escaped from a mad house nearby and he was sleepıng under the brıdge that night.and while amy was trying to pass the bridge he killed amy.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will ask my students which one they think had the faultr for amys death? as paır and class actıvıty and I will write a sample on the board saying so you think amy was faulty. so you think if amy had stayed at home that nightş she wouldnt have died?

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will introduce the pronouncıation of the sample sentence. and write about the structure of the sample sentence.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask for some sample sentences from the students ın paırs and as class actıvıty. and put them on the board.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students wıll be grouped and wıll be asked to gıve theır ıdeas of all the possıble ways to gıve samples for these types of sentenses. ın groups.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I wıll ask thıs questıon from the students can you thınk of any thıng wıth ın the same sıtuatıon about your own perdsonal lıfe? for ınstane ı know ıf I hadnt came to turkey, ı wouldnt have met you great guys here.
