Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, practice and review of Name of the things

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of the singular and plural nouns

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The class starts with showing a picture by using a power point which contains the things in the classroom that they have studied them in previous lessons and asking them to name five things they can see in the picture, the students will do it in pair and I will give the picture to each pair, I will ask the students to say their answers with the sentence 'I can see ..... in the picture' not just saying a word, when they finished I will ask a student in each pair to share her answer in the class.

Pre-Reading/Listening (7-9 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will pre-teach 3 words from the dialogue using a power point, I first ask them to match the words with pictures then I will clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the words, for solving pronunciation problems I will have a repetition drill and focus on the phonetics. for getting feedback students will do a controlled practice in which they have to fill the blanks with the words they have just learned. When students finished they will first check their answers in pair then I will ask the whole class to check if their answers are right or no. Words: key, camera, ID card

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Students will read a dialogue in which they get familiar with singular and plural nouns, they should skim the text and say what is the dialogue about then they will check their answers in pair.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

students will read the text again to answer more detailed questions, they will be given a true or false practice, when they finished they will check their answers in pair.

Post-Reading/Listening (12-14 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will explain the grammar by using pictures in the power point. there will be three pictures that are showing key, ID card, camera and there is only one of them in each picture, in front of each one is a positive sentence for example ' it is a camera' and a/an are bold, when it comes to 'It is an ID card' I will explain when do we use a and an. then I will say the negative form and the question form with answers in the next slides, also there will be the form for each sentence and question. Students will be given a controlled practice in which they have to put a or an before the words then we will check the answers. For plural nouns there will be three pictures that each one shows more than one key, camera, ID card in front of them will be the forms, positive and negative sentences and questions in different slides. for example: 'they aren't cameras' , 'they are cameras' , 'what are they? they are cameras" After teaching students will be given a practice in which the have to write sentences or questions for each picture then they will check their answers in pair. For production I will give each pair a picture which shows some singular and plural nouns and ask students to ask each other 'what is it' or 'what are they' and answer. At the end students will play a memory game that each student will get a picture and after one minute they should say name of the things they remember.
