Description

In this lesson, students will have a chance to practice telling dates (day, month and year). They will listen to records about dates. Also, they will learn how to use was/were born.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in simple past and present in the context of fun activities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about last summer activities in the context of fun activities

Procedure

Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students and connect with the previous lesson.

Show Ss a picture onto the board that related to the weekends and ask them what did they do the last weekend, All Ss must be engaged and use past tense.

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Set Ex9 p.96. Ss will listen to an audio track about for person are talking about what did they last summer. give instructions to students and give an example before handouts, PW for the activity and GW FB. Afterward, one student will write answers that Ss will tell.

Useful Language (6-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Set Ex 2 (A) Ss will listen to an audio track, they will write words that they will hear from the list to be able to use the same forms for the next stage. PW for the activity, and GW FB by sticking the right answers into the word

Productive Task #1 (13-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Set Ex 2 (A) Ss will have a chance to speak. They should choose 6 questions to ask their peer about last summer, the peer should answer then ask his/her questions. Ss will have 5 mins to speak. Then, I will randomly choose one student, let him/her sit in the center, in front of the Ss, they will randomly choose one question and ask the student about.

Productive Task #2 (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

In this Ex, Ss will ask their peers about things if they did or not as a child (past) and if they do it now (present). After that, the peer should mark yes or no regarding his peer's answers. PW for this activity, W/C feedback.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Highlight some good and incorrect sentence that Ss produced, praise the good ones and correct the others (words choice, pronunciation, form, etc) highlighting why they were incorrect.
