Procedure (47-60 minutes)
Ss work in groups to look at the blog post and identify the examples of past continuous and past simple to answer 3a and 3b.
Ss work in different groups to answer the questions in 4a to reinforce the form of past continuous
Ss listen to the song "Jailhouse" by Sublime with missing lyrics and fill in the blanks while listening. Then we have a brief discussion about the song, particularly about how past continuous and past simple are used in the lyrics.
We look at the Ten Dollar Bill story and fill in the blanks with past continuous or past simple verbs in groups.
Ss continue the story with their own verbs orally.
