To provide scan, detailed and inference reading practice using a text about Gender Inequality and Education
To provide gist of reading in order to build connections and coherence between words.
Procedure (71-90 minutes)
The warmer activity comprises of a small scattered paragraph that will be shown to the learners and following questions will be asked: 1. Have they read this excerpt before? 2. If yes, then name the story? 3. What is the theme they understand from jumbled sentences?
Two handouts will be provided to students to solve the activity. Learners will swap the worksheet and peer check their work. A marking key will be provided to the learners to mark each sentence for correct placement of the sentence.
A very challenging passage/essay would be provided to the leaners. They will be asked to find the key words from each paragraph and then match the tiltles with their respective paras. Headings will be written in the end. Learners will swap their worksheets for peer checking from the marking key. Another similar worsheet with a different essay will be given to solve in the same manner.
In this stage, the learners may ask question about the difficulty or ambiguity they have faced and their problems will be sorted out.
