Description

In this lesson, students will learn about asking and answering some questions related to introduction. As well as hot to recognize and discuss some things about hardware related to the internet. They will have an opportunity to work on the receptive skills of reading and listening. As well as an opportunity to practice the productive skills of writing and speaking.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation with the teacher and classmates about in the context of introduction questions and information related to hardware related to the internet.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about smartphone usage in the context of daily life

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To begin I will play the game who am I with the learners, by putting 10-12 answers for information about me on the board and divide the class in 2 groups and have them work together to form questions for the answers that I have written on the board. ( if this goes well and speedily I will then have students write 3-5 sentences about themselves and introduce them selves to the class.)

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Students will match the pictures and the vocabulary for hardware related to the internet. they will work alone and then check there answers in pairs for both parts of exercise 1 and I will illicit and write the answers on the board. Pre teach the words convenient and entertainment prior to listening for the gist.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Have students Complete listening exercise 2 by listening to the audio track preferably one time but if necessary twice. have students check in pairs then due whole class feedback.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Have students read the audio script and then listen 1 more time preferably but as many times as necessary to complete the handout on true or false questions related to the listening. For the questions that are false have students provide the correct answers. check answers with partner then full class feedback.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

After words students will work in pairs to ask each other and answer ( What do you use your smart phone for?) teacher will walk around and check for errors. Students then answer as a whole group and do some error correction. (if time remains we will complete exercises 3 and 4 on the linguahouse worksheet.)
