MUSIC AND INTERESTS
To provide Ss with fluency speaking practice with a pyramid discussion in the context of music .
To provide Ss review /practice functional language related to making suggestion in the context of music
Procedure (38-46 minutes)
Introduce myself and greet Ss. Show Ss short videos about the four performers. Ask Ss different questions about the performers and see if they can answer without looking at the text if possible .
Do Vocabulary Ex.3. and have the Ss work in pairs Check with other pairs Check that they know these phrases are for suggestions Elicit answers in whole class feedback (w/c FB) and drill the pronunciation a bit
Do Ex.5a in pairs instead of alone (depending on number of Ss) to get the Ss to speak more Monitor and help Ss if needed without taking any FB yet .
Scaffold Ex.5b. to make it a pyramid discussion. Have pairs discuss with another pair and come to an agreement. combine or repair the groups of 4 and have them come to an agreement . Monitor Ss and between each regrouping,do some error correction on the W/B especially where they could use some of the functional language . Depending on the number of Ss ,come to an agreement as a W/C at the end.
Elicit a few final decisions in W/C FB and put a few errors on the W/B for post-task error correction and elicit the correct versions from them
Ss will have a hand-out and follow the instructions. They listen to T giving a list of questions related to music and they answer putting their answers in different shapes on work-sheet they have As we might not have enough time , Ss will have to fill in only few shapes instead of 9. Ss speak in pairs about what they have written
