Description

In this lesson, I am going to teach the usages of present simple tense along with the form and pronunciation, followed by a speaking activity using present simple tense. Ending with a game 'Freer activity ' using present simple.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversations in the context of Daily routine

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, I am going to ask the students about their daily routine, such as eating breakfast every day, showering after they wake up, brushing their teeth after waking up, Then I am going to play a video it's about a boy, speaking about his daily routine.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a song

.In this stage, I am going to show the student a text about a nurse, The text describes her job and daily routine also the facts about herself. Then I am going to ask the students to write down their daily routine. Then choose random students to speak about their daily routine.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this part, I am going to ask the students whether if they know the subject we are talking about. if they know that it is present simple, then I will ask them what are the usages of present simple, the things that we describe using present simple.

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this part, I am going to clarify the meaning, form, and pronunciation of the present simple tense. using Powerpoint slides and the board with examples. First, I will start with meaning and usages of the tense such as habits, repeated actions, followed by the form of the tense while using the Time-line. such negative form, positive form and Yes and No questions form, with examples. then followed by the pronunciation, such as Watches 'es' how to pronounce and Plays 's' also flies, enjoys.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this stage, I am going to show the students two exercises in the present simple to check if they got the concept. Using powerpoint slides with two exercises each followed by its feedback.

Semi-controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

a funny filling the gap game, it is a text which students will fill, after writing some words such as, a person's name or a name of a place. Then I am going to ask random students to speak with the others about their results.
