Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of intention in the context of a weekend away

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide deduction listening practice using a text about' a weekend away '

Procedure

lead-in (3-5 minutes) • to generate interest in the topic of the lesson" a weekend away"

ask Ss about their plans for the next weekend.

test (5-6 minutes) • to diagnose what Ls already know about the target language(intention)

Ss are going to listen to the record then complete the gaps.

feedback (3-5 minutes) • to correct errors in TL use.

ask students to check their answers in pairs. Then give Ss feedback with the whole class.

teach (10-15 minutes) • to clarify aspects of the TL(intention) that Ls do not know.

elicit three sentences on the weight board from the previous test. on Saturday night I'm going out with a big group of friends. I want to finish the book I'm reading. I would like to go away somewhere this weekend. then ask the students CQC's to elicit the meaning of intention : am I prepare or plan to go out with my friend? am I sure that I am going out with my friend? am I take a decision to go out with my friend? 2) would like or want to is it a wish or decision? am I sure that I'm going to go I way this weekend? then elicit the form of (positive, negative, questions) and write it on the weight board. then pronounce it and ask Ss to repeat after me

test (3-5 minutes) • to provide an opportunity for Ls to use the TL( intention).

ask Ss to do exercise 3, fill the gaps with do, are, would.

feedback (3-5 minutes) • to correct errors in TL use.

Ss are going to check their answers in pairs then listen and check the correct answers.

free-practise (2-3 minutes) • to enable Ls to get a general understanding of the tl

ask Ss to do practice 2 look at the picture and write what are the people going to do, using (be+ going to +verb inf)

feedback (2-3 minutes) • to correct errors in TL use.

ask Ss to check in pairs then check their answers with the whole class.
