Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Discussion in the context of Differences between men and women

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of language used for expressing opinion in the context of differences between men and women

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will play a video about differences between men and women then check their opinion about the video if what said in the video true or not.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

teacher will give the students a HO that consist of useful expressions to express their opinion, agreement and disagreement students will read it for few minutes and check if there'are any sentences that they don't understand and tell the teacher about it

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

teacher will clarify some of the expressions to students that are given to students then make the students do discussions using these expressions.

Productive Task(s) (10-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Teacher will make the students do an interview to each other about the differences between men and women. Teacher will give students HO that have 8 sentences to discuss which of these sentences apply to men or women and why? Teacher will give the students a piece of paper that have a game like (the snake and ladder game) and divide them into 2 teams, each team have 2 small pieces of paper written on it their names and use a coin to flip if one of them guessed right they move forward and ask the question to the other and must answer using the expressions in the HO, if guessed wrong stay as it is and so on until one team reach the finish line first and become winners.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

teacher will listen to the students while they're playing the game and take notes about their mistakes if there're any, then correct them on the board or orally
