  • To provide clarification, review and practice of the present contiuous in the context of street life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about street life

Procedure

Lead in • To generate interest in the topic of the lesson .

I will ask students to watch the video (talking about present continuous) and ask them (what they are doing?).

expand context • To provide a clear situation to present \ elicit TL

I will ask the students about three sentences what are the verbs? and underline.I will see if anyone knows the name of the tense. I will tell them it is the present continuous.

Elicit language • To elicit samples of the TL onto the whiteboard

I will write sentences about the tense on the whiteboard.

Focus on meaning . • To provide clarification of meaning of the TL . To check LS understand the target language for meaning.

I will focus on the meaning through the sentences

Focus on phonology • To provide clarification of the pronounciation of the TL

I will ask them to listen to me and repeat after me.

Focus on form • To provide clarification of the form of the TL

I will write the sentence on the whiteboard. and I will elicit the form from the students.

practice • To provide practice of the TL.

I will give them exercise about the tense. (write the verbs in the present continuous)

Feed back • To correct errors in TL use.

I will ask them to check in pairs. then, we discuss together.

set context • To generate interest in the topic of the lesson .

I will ask them to look at the pictures and tell me ( who are talking on their mobiles. Do they look happy or not?

pre teaching( vocab) • To prevent LS blocking on unknown vocabulary in the questions or answers.

I will teach students some of the vocabularies. chat laugh uniform

Gist task • To give LS time to listen.

I ask them to listen to the record (exercise 2) listen to their conversations and answer the questions.

detailed task • To give LS a reason to listen at a detailed level.

I will ask them to listen to the recording and elicit what should go into the gaps.

Follow up • To give Ls the chance to respond to the text to balance productive skills.

I will ask students to use a mini dictionary to check the spelling of these-ing forms and( ex 2 ) I will ask them to work in pairs. Ask and answer about the photos below. (ex 3) (make true sentences for you. Then compare with a partner.
