The students in this intermediate class are between the age 20 to 30. There are two women and man. one of the women is an interior designer, the other one recent graduate and the man still at the faculty. They seem to enjoy vocabulary and speaking lessons.They enjoy the activities of mingling around the classroom and sticking flashcards on the board

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of health in the context of how to look after your self and get healthy.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about healthy food and to stay healthy in the context of how to look after your self

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greet the students then, asking them: How are you? How's your day? T shows a picture of an old lady and asks the ss guess her age. T gives the ss questions on the flashcards e.g: How do you feel every day when you wake up? What do you want to change about your lifestyle?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- T shows ss a video of tips for Starting a healthy lifestyle. - T asks the ss to find a suitable title for the video to generate ss interest in the topic of the lesson - What do you usually eat every day? - How often do you eat things that you know are bad for you?

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-T shows ss a slide on which there is a picture of the word e.g ( a fast )and asks ss “What can you see? -T elicits answers and if ss didn’t know the word T says it. -T drills the word three-time and asks ss to repeat the word as the whole class, in groups, then individually and finally show them the written form. -T shows the ss the picture of other words. -Repeat the (ECDW).

Controlled Practice (pre-reading task) (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T distributes a worksheet in which Ss must use the words in the box to complete the sentences. T gives Ss time to answer. T asks Ss to check in pairs. T gives feedback. (written)

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

#Task 1: reading for gist. (To enable learners to get a general understanding of the text) -T gives Ss text to read it and asks them to put a suitable title. -T gives Ss to process the questions in one group. -T gives feedback. #Task 2: reading for a scan. -T asks the Ss to read again in order to know the correct sentence from the false one and to correct the false ones. -T gives Ss 2 minutes to solve the activity. -T monitors and provides help if they need before giving feedback. -T discusses with the Ss the answers.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks ss to work in pairs or groups of three ss (depending on the number of ss) and discuss their sentences with each other using follow up questions. -T sets the time to work individually, then T monitors. -T asks Ss to write short notes about three bad habits they used to do and three things they will do to be healthier and to look after themselves.
