Description

In this lesson, students will discuss their preferred kind of art such as movies, concerts, music and video games. it is a speaking lesson as main-aim and function sub-aim. students will get an opportunity to develop their skills in speaking accurately and fluently in the context of discussing movies and sharing their opinions. First, students will be exposed to target language having to do with giving opinions or showing interest. After that, students will get a chance to practice, first individually, then in pairs, talking to each other and expressing opinions about art.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Art

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of language used for W.H questions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I am going to use a scene from the movie 'Liar Liar' it is about a liar lawyer who doesn't give his son the attention that he needs. so the son wishes that his father would live a whole day without being able to say a single lie. link to the video ' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAE7uOO_4v4 '. Then I will ask the students about whether they liked the scene or not, would they like to watch the whole movie or not, then I will tell the students that this is a mean of entertainment or art. then I will elicit other means of art and entertainment

Pre-teaching vocabulary. • to clarify some vocabulary.

In this stage, I will be clarifying the words: Ballet-Concert-Band.

W.H-questions clarification. • to clarify the usage of W.H questions.

I will show them W.H questions and elicit the usage of each.

Exposure (3-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Students will listen to a certain track and answer some questions related to Art.

Productive Task(s) (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students will be divided into two groups, trying to come up with new questions about art and entertainment and discuss it.

Question Jar Game. (10-12 minutes) • Practice speaking more intensively.

I have some random questions about Art and Entertainment. all in the Jar, each student will choose one question and answer it to the other students.

Imagination Activity. (10-15 minutes) • Practice speaking more intensively.

The students will imagine themselves as if their wish had become true and they became their favorite character in a movie, video game or a singer etc...
