Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To generate the interest in the topic of the lesson.

Greet the students then, asking them: How are you? How's your day? T starts asking ss about their recent or future career. T discusses the importance of the cover letter as it is usually the first piece of an application that is read.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- T shows ss a self-intro video then ask them about how he started introducing himself and trying to elicit the stages of the cover letter from them

Reading for gist (5-6 minutes) • To enable learners to get a general understanding of the text

T gives ss hand out copies of the Cover Letter Guide T walks ss through the important parts of a cover letter including heading, inside address, salutation, and the complimentary closing. T gives the ss a matching activity in which they are going to match the paragraphs with the main idea. Then, T asks ss to discuss in pairs. T nominates and listens to their answers

Genre analysis (3-5 minutes) • To develop ss writing skill by drawing their attention to features of the genre (content and language)

T asks ss to mingle and stick the paragraphs to their features of the cover letter. ss do the task T goes round the class and disscusses the answer with ss

writing task (7-10 minutes) • To practice using the feature of the genre

T asks ss to write their own cover letter. T sets the time to work individually, then T monitors T gives feedback

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T discusses the ss cover letters and corrects if needed.
