in this lesson, students will learn to write 5 paragraphs to describe a good friends

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a paragraph in the context of a good friend

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of vocabulary in the context of description a friend


lead-in (5-7 minutes) • to generate interest in the topic of the lesson.

Students will watch video for two people talking about their best friend. Then ask them what their favorite friend's name is.

pre-teach vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • to prevent blocking on unknown vocabulary in the questions or answers

Ask the students to match the verbs with pictures.

feedback (3 minutes) • to correct errors in TL use.

check the right answer with the whole class.

reading for gist (2-3 minutes) • to enable Ls to get a general understanding of the text.

ask the students to read the text quickly and put an address

genre analysis (3-5 minutes) • to develop Ls writing skill by drawing their attention to features of the genre (content and language).

tell the student that this is a photo of Stephanie .this is the description of her appearance and her hopes ....etc

motivate students to write (3-5 minutes) • orient Ls to the paragraph, context, target reader

ask the students to answer exercise (a); correct the highlighted words

feedback (5 minutes) • to correct errors in TL use.

Ask students to review their answer in pairs, then ask the students look at the correct answers and check their answer.

controlled practice (7-10 minutes) • To increase the practice of reading and understanding the content

Ask students to respond to an exercise (b, c) by reading the text again and asking questions in the text. ask the students to look at the questions and try to remember their answers

feedback (3-5 minutes) • to correct errors in TL use.

ask the students to check their answer in groups, then check it with me .

writing task (5 minutes) • to enable Ls to practice writing skills.

ask students to write a similar description (in five paragraphs asking five questions )

feedback (5-7 minutes) • to provide feedback on content and language

Ask students to change their papers and check the mistakes in punctuation and grammar
