in this lesson, students are going to learn the differences between regular and irregular verbs and using them to make past simple sentences and I will elicit the meaning from a reading.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of past simple in the context of journy

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about two english women travel in a tuk-tuk in the context of amazing journy


lead in (3-5 minutes) • To generate intrest in the topic

1- I will show them some pictures of my last journey to a new city in the north of Iran and make them ready for reading part

Reading task (6-10 minutes) • To introduce the target language via a text

1-I will show them the picture of two English women and ask some questions about them and elicit some ideas. 2-i will project the map and ask students to discuss who were those English women and what countries they had traveled and then for feedback ask some questions and elicit some ideas. 3- I will give them the whole reading in a handout and they are going to read it and then I will give them some questions first they will answer individually and then I will ask them to discuss with each other after some minutes I will give them the answer key and they will check the answers.

Highlighting target language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight the target language by use of eliciting

1- I will project 4 sentences from the text, verbs are highlighted and underlined by me because I want to attract their attention to the verbs. I will ask some questions about the verbs and elicit some ideas and elicit the form from students.

clarifying target language (6-8 minutes) • clarify meaning of target language and highligh dorm

1-As I elicited some ideas about the form in the last stage I will project the form on the board and then students are going to use the text and then fill the gaps.

language practice (10-12 minutes) • to provide controlled practice and frrer practice for production

1-i will give them the second handout and again they are going to find some irregular verbs from the text and discuss with their friends.then can come to the board one by one and write the answers on the board 2-play listening to practice the pronunciation of the verbs 3-i will give them the last handout and first they are going to do it individually and then they will discuss with their friends and then they can come to the board and write answers 4-i will play the listening part to practice the pronunciation 5- ask them to talk about their own journies for freer practice

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • to establish correct answers and deal with result of the task

elicit some ideas about the speaking part, and ask some ideas about students journey.
