Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion in the context of movies

Procedure

Lead in (5 minutes) • To encourage Students to think about the content of the the text

-Students will see pictures of two movies ( Tomb Rider and Avengers ) on w/b -They discuss three questions projected on the board in pairs: Do you like watching movies? What movies do you like watching? Why? How often do you go to the cinema?

Prediction check (5 minutes) • To encourage Ss to think about the content of the topoc

-Students see a pic of Ina McKellen and there is a question above it: Do you know this person Then students are encouraged to make some guesses -Ss read a short text about their text and check if their guesses were right

Pre teach vocabulary (5 minutes) • Unblock key vocab needed to help students complete the task

before the reading task students will have a gap-filling activity to work on some difficult vocab at this level such as prefer or ability.

Reading for gist (3 minutes) • To encourage students for general understanding and get an overview of the text

-Students will be give 6 headings and have 2-3 minutes to find the related paragraph on their own, ex b p.96 -peer-check -Ss will check their answers with an answer key on the w/b

Reading for detail (7-10 minutes) • To practice reading for detailed comprehension and understanding of the text in depth

-Students will have 10 statements. They should read the text and say which sentence is true an which one is false and why ex c p. 96 -Ss peer-check their answers -Teach asks ss to raise their hands and say which sentence is true and which one is flas and they should say which part of the text helped them. -Other students comment on their classmates answers

Post reading (10 minutes) • To develop oral fluency and personalize the topic

-Ss ask ans answer 6 questions in pairs -Teacher monitors for feedback -Ss share their opinions with the whole class
