Description

This lesson consists of 4 parts. Each part lasts an hour. In this part, students will be provided reading task with vocabulary. They will do the reading task by using jigsaw method, They will be focused on reading for gist and for detailed by using new vocabulary in a context of "kindness and bravery" Also in this lesson, Ss will be provided with speaking for fluency.

  • To provide gist and detailed reading in a context of "kindness and bravery"

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of who is the bravest and kindest
  • To provide clarification, review and practice of verbs in the context of acts of kindness and bravery

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Shows Ss the pictures and discuss what are they.

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-In pairs, students discuss the situations on HO-1 FEEDBACK: open class discussion.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

JIGSAW -Put Ss in groups of three. (A, A.A.) (B,B,B) (CCC) -each Ss reads the text and find what is the text about. regroup Ss as (A, B, C). Ss tell each other about the texts that they read. FEEDBACK: open class discussion

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-Ss read the text and find whether the sentences are true or false -Feedback -1- (GROUP) PEER CHECKING -2- write the answers on the board *Ss ask if they didn't understand the answers.

Clarification (7-10 minutes) • to clarify the meaning form and pronunciation of the target language

-Give HO-VOC Ss use the text and complete the sentences FEEDBACK- open class -give HO-VOC PRE SPEAK. Ss complete the gaps with prepositions. FEEDBACK write the answers on the board

Post-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-Ss walk in the classroom and ask questions about bravery and kindness. WHO IS THE BRAVEST/KINDEST PERSON IN THE CLASSROOM.
