Procedure (31-45 minutes)
Show Ss a video and ask them what it is.Who is the woman in the video? (The nanny.)
Pre-teach au pair.Show Ss pictures on the board.Pre-teach nanny.Focus on the photo and explain that Mrs Taylor is going to interview Natalia because she wants an au pair to help her with her two children,Megan and Harry,who are in the photo by the window. Play the recording. Ss listen to the interview and answer the question whether Natalia gets the job. (She does.) They discuss in pairs.Get some FB.
Pre-teach the vocabulary in ex.7b.Tell Ss to listen again and put a tick for the things Natalia can do.Put a cross for the things she can't do.Play the recording again.Ss listen and put a tick or a cross. Ss check answers in pairs.Get some FB.
Put Ss into pairs,S A and S B.Ss focus on the photos of Megan and Harry in the tasks.Check that they understand what each picture is. Tell them that they are Mrs. Taylor's children.Ss write questions with can for the gaps in the table.Ss check answers in pairs. Then,in pairs,Ss ask questions each other.Remind Ss to use correct short answers. (Yes,she can/No,she can't) Ss are not allowed to look at their books.Ss ask and answer and put a tick and a cross.
