In this lesson, students are going to practice writing in the context of holiday. T will elicit the new words that are going to be useful to compose the piece of writing.

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a report in the context of holiday

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of W/H questions and holiday vocabulary in the context of holiday.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Get to know the new students. 1- Show them a picture during my holiday in Dubai. What can you see in the picture? 2- What was the last place you have been to?

Useful language (8-10 minutes) • To provide new vocabulary for the students to produce the piece of wrtiting

1- Elicit the words: PUT THEM HERE 2- Show them a model and ask what is the beginning, middle and end of the writing. 3- Ask tem to match (activity)

Pre-Writing (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model for the students

1- Write a place you have been to on a sheet of paper. 2- Students go around the class writing questions such as: a) When did you go? b) Who did you go with? c) How did you get there? d) How long did you stay? e) What did you do? f) Did you have a good time? g) Would you like to go back? 3- Give students time to read and answer those questions

Productive Task (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1- Ask students to start writing. 2- Give them enough time and monitor them during this task keeping an eye on the weak students to help them.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

1- Collect the material and hang them on the walls like a galleria. 2- Ask students to walk around reading each other's piece of writing. 3- Have a quick feedback sitting in the middle of the class asking questions about their writing. 4- Correct errors on the white board if necessary.
