Procedure (33-45 minutes)
I will start the lesson by asking the Ss some questions about starting a career. For example, Is it easy to find a job in Egypt after graduation? what should you do to find a suitable job? what are your plans about your future career?
I will set the context of the listening activity to the Ss. They will listen to 6 graduates talking about what they have been studying and about their career future plans.
Pre-teach the following vocabulary: to do a temporary job /təˈdu:əˈtem.pər.ər.i dʒɒb/ to do a master's degree /təˈdu:əˌmɑː.stəz dɪˈɡriː/ to apply for a job /təˈplaɪfədʒɒb/ I will follow the ECDW order.
Ss will be asked to listen to six students and make a note of what they have been studying and their plans/ideas about their future career. After that, Ss will check their answers in pairs, followed by my feedback.
Ss have to listen and complete the missing information about the 6 graduates. Then, they will check their answers in pairs. After that, they will be given the answer key.
Ss will be divided into two groups. They have to figure out which of the 6 students have already made arrangements to start a job/course, who already knows what they want to do and who doesn't really know what they want to do.
Ss will be asked to talk about their studies and their plans for their future career. They will prepare their ideas in a minute and then will be asked to discuss them in pairs. This will be followed by a group discussion. i will give them content feedback.
