Description

In this lesson, students will listen to a filmmaker who directed a documentary about waste, and how she did it, and her opinion about waste. they will answer with gist and detail questions based on the listening.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about the waste in the context of environment and recycling waste

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a debate in the context of environment and recycling waste

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will see two pictures of Jeremy Iron .They say whether they know him or not .Teacher Elicit his name and his job. They guess the connection of both pictures in pair. Teacher will get feedback .

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage , Teacher gives a biographical information about Candida Brady . They read it alone then they will work in pairs talking about this documentary or other ones about environment. Teacher will get feedback of one or two students .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Teacher gives the instruction about the listening part . The listening is an interview with Candida . Students will listen and mark the sentences true or false .Teacher will draw students attention to the box and go through the vocabulary with student . Students listen to the the track and mark the sentence . If it is necessary ,teacher plays the track a second time. Students will check answers in pairs . (For extra support , teacher will pause the audio at relevant parts and in pairs , get students to compare orally what they have understood before marking the sentences true or false) . Teacher gives the answer key . Teacher gives the instruction .teacher plays audio again and students and correct sentences 2,4 and 6 . students check in pairs .Teacher gets feedback of one or two students .

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Teacher gives instruction about part 2 listening part . They listen and answer two questions that teacher puts on the board. Ss compare in pairs . They check in pairs ,and Teacher gives the answer keys . In the second part of activity students go though the sentences . teacher will check the glossary with students .students listen to the conversation and fill in the gaps . they check their answer in pairs .then come to the board and write their answers on the WB . teacher will give the answer key . In another exercise students will listen and fill the gap with adverbs.Teacher gives the instruction and goes through common adverbs box with students . Students listen to track and fill in the gaps with the adverbs they hear in the track. Then , they check in pairs . teacher gives the answer key .

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

At this stage , Teacher group students . Aset is of question is given to each group to discuss . in each group everyone has a question , one reads the question and in group they discuss the questions . Teacher monitors . Finally, teacher gets feedback from the students to correct the students and if they have error , teacher put them on the board for the students to correct it .
