Description

In this lesson, students are going to learn vocabularies related to city and country,and then it will seep into another exercise requiring the to learn how to give directions,which will activate the words in question and direction-related words.At the end,they will be supposed to produce the language they have obtained.

Procedure

lead-in/warm=up (2-3 minutes) • to set the context

The students will watch a 1 minute clip showing some places in a city to get involved what they are supposed to go through. Before watching it,they will be instructed to memorize what places they will see.Then they will have to report it to the teacher.

vocabulary (landmarks) (10-12 minutes) • to present and clarify the language

They will be given two pictures to work on in two groups. Each group will receive two pictures,one of which is depicting a town an the other portraying a country-a village.The teacher then will apply drilling and check the understanding of the students.Next They are supposed to match the places inside the pictures with a set of 24 words handed out to them with the pictures.They'll be given 3 to 4 minutes to complete the task. Then the answers will be projected on the board via slides.Vocabulary game can be a good practice for letting the TL soak in before having them move further.They will be divided into 4 groups and asked to mime the words that they will pick from the previous exercise, which is about landscapes.The group that can interpret more words will be the winner.The time limit be set within 2 minutes.

presentation(prepositions of directions) (8-10 minutes) • to practice the vocabularies they have learned

At first,the students will be given some gap-fill handouts representing 8 sentences plus a box with also 8 prepositions.They have 2 minutes to individually bring the task to an end m putting the words in the right blank.They need to be given one minute later to share their ideas with their partners before they discover the answer keys via a sheet hidden under a chair.

CONTROLLED PRACTICE (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for a more meaningful practice

Some handouts will be given out to them to fill. there are gaps for them that should be completed but first they will just listen and watch a map projected on the board. And then they will be asked to listen again and fill the gaps accordingly.Sharing their ideas with partners will assist them to feel more relaxed before the exposure of the answers on the board. The last part of the exercise will be very fun since it requires the students to pretend they are landmarks and with every move the teacher shows,they will have to come up with the word that best represents the move.

FREER PRACTICE (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

They'll be given 2 maps of a neighborhood with landmarks in.Each person will start giving directions to lead to the partner to a place.But they are not supposed to reveal their destinations to each other so that their partner can fallow them to the destination.There will be freer practice if there is an extra time remaining.
