Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

S see a photo of a few celebrities from various fields and walks of life. T will elicit their names and brief info about them before eliciting the word "celebrity". Ss answer 2 questions in pairs: 1) come up with a list of 3 most famous people in the world; 2) In which ways do people become famous? T takes W/C FB & writes ideas on the board.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T gives instructions for a vocabulary fill-in-the-blank task and distributes HOs. Ss do the fill in the blanks individually. Ss peer-check. Ss come to the board to write the answers. T uses CCQs/synonyms to confirm MPF.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T sets a time limit for ss to answer 2 gist Qs: 1) Are any of your ideas about becoming famous mentioned in the text? 2) What other ways are given? T hands out the reading passage. Ss find the answers individually. Ss peer-check. T takes W/C FB.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Phase 1: Ss (individually) find and underline names of celebrities on the slide shown. Ss try & find how these people became famous. Ss peer-check. T shows the slide with answers & asks ss to match. T provides FB. Phase 2: T gives instructions & distributes Ex.4 (HO). Ss work in groups of 3 to find the answers. T shows answers on slide.
