Description

In this lesson students will learn how to make questions and answers in present simple form. They are going to get familiar with the pronunciation of 'do you' and also do some control practice.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of Present simple question form in the context of Free time activities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Free time activities

Procedure

Lead In (2-3 minutes) • Quick review of the previous lesson.

I will put up few pictures of free activities on the WB and have the learners label the pictures. Than I will ask few of them what they like to do on their free time.

Highlighting target language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight the target language through tabling.

I will have a hand out for the students, but before giving out the hand out i will give them clear instructions on what to do. The learners will work on their own and than check answers in pairs. the correct answer is shown through slides.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To highlight the form

I will write two examples on the WB. Where do you live? What music do you like? After writing these sentences on the WB i will ask students to remark on the form as I point.

Clarification stage 2 (5-7 minutes) • Highlight the short answers and to drill

I will give students fill in the gaps hand out with "do" "don't" yes or no questions and short answers They will work on their own and do pair check. We will have a FB and do drilling.

Language practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide controlled practice

I will give out a fill in the gaps hand out and ask them to work on their own. Then, learners are asked to check their answers in pairs and we do a FB.

Practice - Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide controlled practice with respect to listening

Learners are going to listen to an audio two times and write four questions with 'do you'. Then they will compare their questions with pairs to see if they are the same. I will show the correct answer through a slide and go over the questions.

Practice- Speaking (7-10 minutes) • Practice present simple question form and short answers through semi controlled practice

Learners will work in pairs asking each other the questions that they had listen to and the questions from excise 7A.

Controlled practice- 4 (7-10 minutes) • For the learners to practice the form

Learners are going to be dived into groups and are given jumbled questions and are asked to write the correct question form.
