To provide practice of Information questions with what, which and how in the context of describtion of people places and things
To provide a chance to clarify and practice vocabulary such as " smart, mid-twenties, cosy, enormous" in the context of description.
Procedure (37-47 minutes)
teacher has name of one of the Students on a piece of paper. He models the question to ask about description then encourages Ss to work in pairs about the questions they can ask to find the name.Then they start asking. - Is he a boy or a girl? - what color is her hair?
give hand outs to students and ask them to listen and match the answers with the questions Ss listen and check their answers. teacher gives another Ho to SS - teacher Elicits the first one from the students - Ss do the rest then listen and check teacher gives third HOs and Ss fill in the blamks with the given words. - teacher pre-teaches words " make, cosy, smart, "
teacher asks students to underline the Q words what which and how in the HOs - then asks them about the words that follow question words - which is followed by a noun or adjective? - what is followed by a noun or adjective? - How is followed by a .....?
Give HOs to Ss and ask them to look at them and use the ideas to help them/ - Ss work in pairs and one of them asks Qs about people and the other asks about places - teacher pre-teaches words" enormous,tiny, mid-twenties"
teacher gives HOs to the students - check the first one as WC - Teacher Elicits the second one and helps if necessary - Ss do the rest individually -WCFB - Teacher gives answer key
