Description

In this lesson, ss learn about the simple present tense structure with the third person and interrogative, positive and negative statements through the test-teach- test approach. Finally there are free practices of speaking and writing.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of the present simple interrogative, positive and negative sentence structures with the third person subjective pronouns.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide feedback ss about the interrogative words through listening.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T draws time table on WB and writes names of some ss and what they do at different times. -The T asks other ss from the time table and ss answer.

Test #1 (5-6 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

-T delivers handouts which contain an exercise about question with the present simple tense. -SS try to complete the exercise on their own. -Teacher monitors and detects weak points of the ss.

Teach (7-8 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-T shows ss how to make interrogative statements with examples on WB.

Test #2 (5-7 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

-SS complete the exercise 1 and check their answers in pairs

Feedback (1-2 minutes) • To make sure that ss accept the context

-SS listen the answers for exercise 1 and check their answers.

Test2#1 (4-5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowldge of the target language

-T delivers handouts which contain an exercise about negative sentences with the present simple tense. -T monitor ss and detect weaknesses

Teach 2 (5-7 minutes) • to clarify the areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-T shows key points of making positive and negative sentences with the present simle tense with examples on WB.

Test2#2 (5-7 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

-SS complete exercise 4 and check their answers in pairs.

Feedback (1-2 minutes) • To make sure that ss accept the context

-T delivers ss the answer key for exercise 4 -SS check their answers again

Free practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-ss ask questions each other and give true answers -Ss write two false sentences and correct their sentences in pairs -Ss ask questions and give answers in pairs
