Description

In this lesson students will learn some new vocabulary such as some food and drink,love, like and a lot of.before they start these new word they have a quick review of some foods and drinks which they recently have learnt as a race.after this part they will listen to a listening part not as a main aim just as exposure.( for a gist).after this they will be taught the new words(love,like,drink,food and a lot of) by meaning,form and pronunciation. then they will be given a short controlled practice exercise and finally they will have a freer practice task.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of love, like, eat, drink, a lot of in the context of food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of which food/drink they like eating/drinking and which food/drink they love eating/drinking
  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Food I Like in the context of food
  • To provide listening practice using a text about Food I Like in the context of food

Procedure

warmer (4-5 minutes) • To quick review of foods and drinks

T shows some picture about foods and drinks and elicits the names and pronunciation T drills the words. T gives Ss time(1m) to memorize the words. T puts Ss in to groups in to lines in front of the board. T shows a slide which contains the names of foods and drinks T gives time(1 m) to time to circle the foods and drinks they have seen in slides. A team with more number will be winner.

Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To generate interest in the context of listening

T shows a H/O which contains different foods and drinks and asks them to circle the foods and drinks which Fiona talks about. CCQs: Do you circle the foods and drinks in the listening?yes Do you circle all foods and drinks?No T hand outs the papers and plays the listening. T plays the track if necessary. T asks Ss to compare their answers in pairs. T collect the answers and writes on the board.

listening task (5-7 minutes) • To introduce the target the target language via listening

-T shows a H/O to student and ask them to circle the correct words from the listening. ICQs: Do you answer the question with your friend?NO Do you circle the correct answers?yes T hand outs the papers. T plays the track. T plays the track if necessary. T asks them to compare their answers in groups. -T collects the answers and writes on the board.

clarify target language (6-7 minutes) • To clarify meaning of target language/model and provide controlled practice of pronunciation and highlight form

T shows a hand out and asks Ss to write 5 sentences with love- like - eat- a lot of- drink. about food. T gives time and monitors.(4m) T asks Ss to stand up and talk about their sentences in pairs. T asks Ss to change their partners. T check their sentences and writes the correct forms and pronunciation.(error correction)
