Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about A Talented Familt in the context of A jigsaw reading about the life and success of two members of the same family

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Discussion in the context of Family

Procedure

Warmer (4-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1-students will watch an excerpt from Nicola Benedetti - Glazunov Violin Concerto III. Animando (1 min) 2-as a warmer, a star fact will be used to introduce Nicola Benedetti, highlighting her job, where she lives, sister's name, father's name and the age she started playing Violin so that the lexis "talented" an be introduced. 3- Students talk about talented people in their family.

Lead-in (6-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible by teaching new vocabulary related to lesson context and having the students engaged

New vocabulary from reading's introduction and exercise 5 will be given to the students then elicit the meaning from the students. to personalize the new vocabulary, students will write true sentences about themselves.

Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with introduction to the reading, gist and specific information about reading task

Students will read the introduction to the reading individually and then in pairs answer to the questions in ex2

While-Reading (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with detailed and specific information reading task

the students form 2 groups. One group reads about Nicola Benedetti and the other group reads about Gio. then they answer the questions accordingly. Once they are finished with the exercises, students discuss the readings in pairs (one from each group). finally,to get feedback, two students talk about Gio and Nicola.

Post-Reading/Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students will discuss questions in ex5 p42 in pairs then change partner for more information
