In this lesson students learn about the contrasting between past and present through using “ used to “ based on a song that is about remember the days of the old schoolyard.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I show ss a picture that shows a kid riding his bike, asking them to describe it . I ask them " do you ride bikes ? " then i add " i used to ride bikes when i was 10. " what did you use to do when you were a child ? " ... flowing the conversation about what we used to do.

gist (8-10 minutes) • To ensure learners are comfortable with the text before exploiting for language

I tell them that they are going to listen to a song.. giving them a reason that is " what do you think the song is about ?

highlight language (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target language in context

i explain the task that is I play the song and they fill in the gaps with the provided verbs then i give them time to compare their answers in pairs then i check.

clarify language meaning (6-8 minutes) • provide clarification of meaning of the target language and to check learners understand the meaning

after ss listen to the song . . i ask them to discuss in pairs how does the writer of the song feel about his schooldays ? where they a completely happy time ? And what words or lines tell you this ? i give them time to discuss then i ask some of them about their friends opinion.

Clarify language pronunciation (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the pronunciation of the target language

i clarify the pronunciation by drilling and back chaining

clarify Language form (6-8 minutes) • To provide clarification of the form of the target language

i write on board clarifying the language target form

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

i provide an opportunity for learners to use the target language controlled

Feedback • to praise good use of the target language and to correct errors in target language use

i ask them to join all together in one group and i try to correct errors noticed during monitoring
