In this lesson students going to learn grammar like, love , don't like and hate + (verb + ing ) and how to use it the lesson of today and listen to the pronunciation of the verbs in (ing)

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of (like, don't like, love and hate) + (verb + ing) in the context of Shopping

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about Do men like shopping ? in the context of shopping

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Write on the board do men like shopping? , Elicit from them what men like to buy the most and and what women like to buy the most. Then make them write some things they love to buy then share it with each other

Test #1 (5-7 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Teacher play the record and students match dialogues 1-4 with the pictures, then work in pairs to check answers then check with the teacher, then play the record again to complete the sentences with a verb then check in pairs, then check with the teacher.

Teach (5-9 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Teacher will explain the rule that was used in the previous listening exercise which is (like, don't like, hate and love) + (verb + ing). We usually use a (verb + -ing) after like, love, and hate when we are talking about an activity in general.

Test #2 (3-5 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Students will look at the chart with the results of a class survey and complete the sentences using love, hate, like and don't like and verbs in the chart adding to them ing

Teach (3-5 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Teacher explain additional points which is some verbs which ends with (e) when adding (ing) to it we remove (e) like verb dance it becomes dancing, and also the one-syllable verbs: one vowel + one consonant = double consonant + ing like shop becomes shopping.

Test #3 (3-5 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the second test

Students will write the verb + ing in the correct column verb + ing or ɇ + ing or double consonant + ing

Free practice (3-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will write about them selfs 4 sentences 2 which they love or like and 2 which they hate or don't like using the grammar they learned today then check in pairs then feedback from the teacher.
