Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of directions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice and clarification of language used for asking for directions in the context of of asking for directions fora certain place

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

video about directions to help students to get exposed to many vocabulary related to directions. ask students some CCQ. what do you think this video was about? have you ever been lost before did you asked any one for help or did you use a map?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T will hand out a dialogue between two persons one of them is asking for a certain destination . T will ask some gist questions: what was the dialogue about ? where was Alice wanted to go? did Jan helped or he couldn't?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ss will be asked to answer some detailed (true o false) questions in order to check students understanding : 1) Alice was asking where is the police office 2)Jan told Alice to go straight along and turn left 3)there wasn't a land mark next to the destination Alice asked about 4)Jan couldn't help Alice

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss will set into pairs each pair will be asked to form a role play between each other one of them will be a lost tourist who needs some one to tell him where is the nearest coffee shop and the other student will help him by telling him the right direction .

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

when Ss are done with the last activity T will monitor students take notes. then ask their class mates where were the mistakes peer correction. then teacher writes down her feed back on the white board.
