Description

This lesson is a writing lesson. Students will have had practice in a process writing about a journey I made with an aeroplane.

Materials

Abc Realia- Passport

Main Aims

  • Students will have had practice in a narrative process writing about a journey I made with an aeroplane

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will have had practice in free speaking in groups about a journey I made with an aeroplane

Procedure

Silent dictation (8 minutes) • Activating Schemata

I will put students into pairs. I will make some gestures to describe a journey I made. I will pause after each stage for students to orally reproduce the story sentence by sentence. My gestures will be: 1. Taking a visa 2. I was late so I could not eat. 3. I went to the airport to take an aeroplane 4. I slept in the aeroplane 5. I did not get food because I was asleep. 6. I had stomach ache and started crying 7. They came to give me food.

Writing (8 minutes) • To give students the opportunity to write the story

I will ask students to write the story I mimed Instructions: Write the story with your partner.

Feedback (8 minutes) • To give students the opportunity to correct their writing.

I will ask students to exchange the stories they have written with a different pair. Students will read each others work and make corrections.

Feedback 2 (6 minutes) • To encourage students to compare feedback from each other and make the necessary corrections

I will give students new sheets to re-write their stories again by including the corrections they got from their friends.

Improving writing by adding some attitude adverbs (adverbs they have learnt in previous lesson) (6 minutes) • To encourage students to remember the usage of words like unfortunately and surprisingly and to add them to the story

I will ask students to identify two places in the story where they can insert 'unfortunately' and 'surprisingly'.

Feedback after improvements (4 minutes) • To encourage students to check the stories of each other after the improvements and make corrections if necessary

I will ask students to once again exchange and read each others work and make any corrections they find.

Conclusion (5 minutes) • To give students the opportunity to compare the stories after the corrections

I will make students to compare their first, second and third stories. I will go through and give the last feedback if there is the need to do so.
