What are their names? 2. How old are they? 3. Do they live with their parents?
The teacher shows the picture from the text on p. 26. In pairs the students answer the following questions: - How old do you think this man is? - Do you think he has a good job? - Do you think he lives with his family?
Teacher divides the students into 3 groups and hands them out 3 different parts of the text. Ss read the text and then share what happened in their part of the text. The, the teacher divides the class into new 3 groups which answer the following questions as the teacher monitors: - Is the mother happy that Andy lives with his parents? Why/ why not? - Is the father happy that Andy lives with his parents? Why/ why not? - Is Andy happy he lives with his parents? Why/ why not?
Teacher hands out the questions and gives the Ss few minutes to read them. Then, the teacher hands out the text. Ss read it for a few minutes, then they answer the questions alone. A peer check follows. Finally, the teacher shows the answers on the board.
The teacher divides the Ss in groups of 3 and asks them to discuss the following questions: 1. Do you think it's good that Andy lives with his parents? 2. When do children leave their homes in Turkey? 3. How old are people when they get married in Turkey? 4. Do you know anyone like Andy? After a few minutes, teacher changes the groups and asks Ss to give their feedback to their new group.
The teacher explains some of the common mistakes he/she noticed while monitoring.
