In this lesson, Ss will learn about Modals of speculation 2.They will learn the differences between Modals of speculation 1 and Modals of speculation 2. The main focus of this lesson is about the infinitive verbs (BE). The lesson starts with listening and the grammar comes from that part and finally, the class ends with speaking (semi-controlled) activity.

Procedure

Quick review (3-8 minutes) • make interest in topic for Ss

The class starts with the warm review. Before the main lesson begins, T will review the previous lesson with Ss. This means that they have to realize the difference between Modal of speculation 1 and 2. then T shows pictures and then asks Ss check and make GUESS what people are doing in those pictures. (then T will generate interest in the context.)

MFP (meaning, Form, Practice) (5-10 minutes) • To highlight the target language

after this, the Ss realize that what is the highlighted language of this lesson. T writes the target language to show what the form is and then Ss understand what is the meaning of this grammar.And T will drill the main form on the W/B.

Listening Task (7-11 minutes) • To introduce the target language via listening.

Before the recording plays, the T will clarify listening (ICQ) for the main purpose of the listening. The listening is about seven different actions from the story of Da Vinci Code. The main character of the story is Robert Langdon. So Ss will hear different sounds during each part. (this means that they have to guess what he is doing). After each action, there will be some extra pauses for students to check WHAT the action was. then it goes for all other actions. Ss will do the listening individually. then they will check that with their partners and feed backchecking H/C.

Semi controlled speaking / Game (alternative stage) (10-15 minutes) • using the Modals of speculation 2

then they will practice this part by asking each other what their friends might be doing right now? e.g. " my friend Saba could be sitting at home." At this stage regrouping is necessary. then after this stage, Ss should play the dice game which is very easy and simple for all of them. they have to throw the dice on board and the first person who passes the all houses would be the winner. The challenges are that the Ss should make a sentence with what the board says quickly and correctly.
