Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks Ss 'Who cares more about money? Men or Women?' W/c discussion.

Exposure to TL/ Listening for gist (7-9 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T tells Ss 'You are going to listen to a song about money. By a band named Charlotte' 'These are the lyrics' 'Some words are deleted' 'Put these words in gaps' T plays the song. Ss do ex.a . 'Check with your partner' W/c FB

Highlighting (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to TL's Meaning

'Listen again. Read the lyrics too' T plays the song. Ss do ex. b. 'These are definitions' 'Put the words in gaps. Work on your own. Not with your partner.' Peer-check (Pw/Gw) 'This time check your answers in your group' W/c FB. (Answers on w/b) 'Write your groups answers' T writes on board "Cynical" 'Who knows what cynical means?' If eliciting was unsuccessful, "Cynical means a person who thinks people do bad things" T writes "Offensive" 'Who knows what offensive means?' If unsuccessful, 'When you offend someone, you hurt them. But not only physical. If you call someone a bad thing, you have offended them.' 'Look at ex. c. You see 3 sentences. Clarification (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T hands out vocabulary bank handout. Ss discover the meanings. 'Check in pairs' W/c FB. 'What is number 1?' '2?' etc. T checks meaning with CCQs. 'How is the word pronounced?' Drill.

Free Practice (9-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T hands out the speaking questions to Ss. T assigns 'A, B, ...' 'A don't show your paper to B. B don't show your paper to A' 'Use these words if you need' Ss Do "Money, Money, Money" Activity. T monitors for TL use. W/c FB if necessary.
