Description

in this lesson students will read a context about sports Ss will answer gist and detailed questions about the context to get exposed to the topic

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide somesports types and names in the context like tennis ,football,swimming and some other unordionary sports like kabadli and badminlon and some words related to sports like intersting ,fit,healthy etc.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of present progrisseve "future arrangment" in the context of spotrs i am going to practice by the end of the year

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show students some pictures of different kinds of sports using flash cards. students will set into pairs and will have to answer some questions related to those pictures . what are those sports name? which one of these sports you've practiced before? think about one of those sports you are going to practice or give it a try by the end of the year ? check answers together,then the whole class feedback

Exposure reading for gist and reading for details (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

set Ss in pairs ,and give clear instructions about first activity reading for gist students will read the paragraph on HOP about sports and choose the correct answers what are the sports that were originated in India a) football and volleyball b)hockey and squash c)Kabaddi Chess Check answers together -and then whole class feedback Ss will be given clear instructions about detailed reading activity Ss read the context again and mark (true or false) 1) all kind of sports plays an important role In physical and mental development 2)football and squash was originated in India 3) Cricket is national sport only 4) all people are playing sports to get fit and healthy 5)sports doesn't improve confidence ,boast personality 6)badminton and hockey are two famous sports in UK Ss check answers together and whole class feedback

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ss will set in groups and each group will choose one sport they are going to practice by the end of the year explaining why they picked up that sport and is that sport in individual sport or a multi players sport and to explain some of its techniques . Ss check answers together and then whole class feed back .

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

students will learn different sports names and how they can pronounce it using drilling also will learn how to use I am going to "future progressive" to plane for something in the future for example : I am going to play tennis tomorrow

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss will answers a gap felling using am going to and am not going to check answers together and after that the whole class feed back by writing the answers on the white board

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

students will set in groups two paragraphs will be hanged on the board each student will have to go to the board to read one sentence from the paragraph and then go back to his group tell them the sentence he read and thy have to write it then another student will go to the board to read the next sentence etc. and the group who will finish reading and writing the paragraph will be the winner (and here students will practice reading, listening and writing)

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss will sit in pairs each pair will choose and famous athletic to talk about and which sport he is practicing one of them will read the answer T takes notes on the errors and then delayed feedback after the activity write errors on board and ask Ss to find the mistakes Highlight the mistake and Ss to correct them
