Description

In this lesson, the SS are immersed in a listening passage through which they get the chance to practice taking notes, finding the gist, specifics, attitude of passage, and understanding implication and inference questions. This lesson aims to be stimulating enough and promises to provide the learners with adequate opportunity to strengthen their listening skills within various activities which attempt to help SS personalize their learning experience so that they can be more intellectually engaged.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-12 minutes) • To engaged students

- Ask and answer about their neighbors (a book activity- No. 1) - A relevant mini discussion using the first handout - A book activity (No. 2)

Pre-Listening (5-7 minutes) • To elicite some words

- By using a sketch, miming, and some pictures, learners will learn some blocking words.

While Listening (7-13 minutes) • To improve note taking and listening

- Having read questions in the book (controlled practice- No. 3)., the SS will listen to the first monologue without a pause. Then, they will answer the questions. If they haven't gotten considerable main information, the audio track will be replayed. - The same procedure will take place for the second monologue .

Post-Listeing # 1 (2-3 minutes) • To work on fluency practice

- Working on the book activity- No. 5.

Post-Listeing # 2 (2-4 minutes) • Paying more attention to vocabulary and people's attitude in the listening passage to prepare the SS for last activity in the book (Role play))

- Handout (scripts with blanks)

Post-Listeing # 3 OR HW (3-4 minutes) • Anticipation based on people's attitude in the listening passage

- To complete the last activity in the book (Role play)
